2014 Yuengling Shamrock Marathon and Half Marathon–March 16, 2014
The Yuengling Shamrock Marathon is the oldest continuously running road race in Virginia Beach! The marathon course takes you south from the Virginia Beach resort area across Rudee Inlet – the gateway to the Atlantic Ocean – and through stately neighborhoods and the Camp Pendleton military base before returning north along the oceanfront and past more welcoming residential areas. It then traverses tree-lined Shore Drive adjacent to First Landing State Park on its way to Ft. Story where Captain John Smith, Christopher Newport, John Rolfe and the other Jamestown colonists first landed in America in 1607. After the Cape Henry Light house – the oldest standing light house in the United States – the course then heads south again for a finish on the world famous Virginia Beach boardwalk, just past the majestic figure of King Neptune, and with the beautiful Atlantic Ocean as a backdrop. Full and half marathon courses are flat, walker friendly and the perfect place for a Boston qualifying PR (personal record). Make it a Shamrock Family Weekend with pre-race events for all ages, from an 8K to the Lepruchan Dash on Saturday March 15, with Half and Full marathons run on Sunday, March 16th. Please call the JDRF Hampton Roads chapter office at (757) 497-2202 for additional registration information!

Team JDRF to Cure Diabetes is a unique and exciting way to fight diabetes. Participants choose Run locations and run for their choice of distance (usually a half or a full marathon) to raise money for JDRF. Runners from around the country take on two challenges: raising the money needed to fund research for better treatments and a cure for diabetes, and reaching a personal training goal to prepare for a race experience.
