What is Team JDRF?

Team JDRF allows you to participate in different types of challenge events as a way to fundraise for JDRF. Each year, Team JDRF selects premier national athletic events and secures a limited number of slots.

What if I want to participate in a challenge event I don’t see listed?

Go for it! JDRF Your Way allows you to participate in any event you like! After you secure your own entry, register here.  Then, you’ll have access to fundraising tools like a personal web page, a private dashboard to monitor your fundraising progress, sample messages to ask for support—and  other downloadable resources to help your reach and exceed your goal.

You used to be able to do other types of fundraisers for Team JDRF. Where are those options now?

Who can run?

Full marathon runners must be 18 years of age or older by the date of the race. Half marathon runners must be 14 years of age or older by the date of the race and must have a signed parental/guardian consent form.

How much time do I have to commit to training?

The amount of training you put in is up to you. Depending on your experience, fitness level, and the type of event you have selected, you will receive coaching and tools that you can use to tailor a training program. If you are a novice, most coaches will recommend you begin training 16 weeks before a full marathon and 12 weeks before a half marathon.

Do I need to register ahead of time?

Yes, please. To ensure that you are an official member of Team JDRF and to receive membership benefits, you must register for the event.

Is there a registration fee for Team JDRF events?

Each event is different. Please check your selected event for specific details.

I don’t want to join a JDRF endurance event but I want to fundraise for JDRF. What are my options?

Is it hard to meet the fundraising requirement?

JDRF has created powerful online fundraising tools to make it easier for you to reach your goal, and your local JDRF chapter can help you with materials, ideas and support. Once you start contacting people, you will be surprised how quickly donations come in.

Is there a deadline for meeting my fundraising minimum?

Yes. The exact minimum will vary depending on the event you have chosen.

Our premier national events require meeting certain fundraising requirements to receive certain additional benefits, like travel and accommodation.

Does the required registration fee count towards my fundraising?

Yes! The required registration fee will count toward your fundraising.

What do I do with cash or checks I receive?

Please make check donations payable to JDRF and include the name of the participant and/or event in the memo line. For cash donations received, it is recommended to transfer these donations into a personal or cashier’s check before submitting them to your local JDRF chapter.

How do I see who has made a donation?

Log in to the Participant Center portal and click on “Progress” to view your fundraising activity and donors.

Are donations tax-deductible?

Yes. Every online donation will receive an automated email acknowledgment for tax purposes. For offline donations your local JDRF office will send an acknowledgment by mail.

Can I use the Team JDRF logo on my materials?

Yes. Our Team JDRF logo was designed to help members achieve a branded, polished look for their fundraising materials.
